by Stine An, Winner of the 2023 Nightboat Poetry Prize
B-Dragon Suite is a hybrid poetry collection that remixes K-pop, experimental translation, sound art, and emoji poetics to explore Korean diasporic identity.
This debut book of poetry treats translation as play, performance, and embodied sound. Across seven interlinked sections, Stine An stages a fabulated K-pop universe, complete with boy band LIL BANG and girl group The Pink Blossoms, alongside lyric poems and prose meditations that code-switch between Korean and English. The book situates K-pop as both pleasure engine and cultural archive, asking how language survives colonial history, migration, and spectacle without resolving into easy consumption. ➕

by Yoo Heekyung, translated by Stine An
Winter Night Rabbit Worries (『겨울밤 토끼 걱정』) is Yoo Heekyung’s fifth poetry collection, published in Korean by Hundae Munhak in 2023. Structured as a series of stories, the book presents narrative and linguistic architectures that dissolve the opposition between those materials that construct the this and the that side of life—past and future, truth and falsehood, memory and fantasy. As readers move from one story to another, they will encounter a dizzying yet tender experience in which the boundaries between self and other unravel, and new stories begin to take shape. ➕

by Yoo Heekyung, translated by Stine An
Today’s Morning Vocabulary (『오늘 아침 단어』) is Yoo Heekyung’s debut poetry collection, published in Korean by Moonji Books in 2011.
Yoo writes poems that invite readers to reflect upon daily sorrows, while also illuminating single moments full of strange and arresting images that suggest the passage of time—a hardened piece of bread, a train about to arrive, a crumpled piece of paper. This debut collection in English chronicles contemporary life in a minor key, where loneliness and existential ghosts thread the pieces together. But Yoo's title also points to his fascination with language, and how each day offers chances to understand new vocabularies and new meanings—of words, of living. ➕

by Stine An, Winner of the 2024 Sarabande Chapbook Prize
Written within the infinite space and delirium of a summer crush, Stine An’s collection S_MMER CR_SH explores the depths and origins of desire taking you on a journey of self-discovery and transformation moving beyond the individual and investigating the erotics of language, writing and it’s embodiment. This collection of summer sestets inspired by Kafka’s The Metamorphosis and Korean folklore begs the question—what are the possibilities of gender, identity, and community when you indulge a crush? ➕
